Corduroy
Tom Power, the Chef and Owner of Corduroy. Agenda
Items:
Tom Power has kindly offered the new Corduroy for the meeting. It's very, very preview. As in maybe not too many chairs. Be one of the many to see the work in progress, before it gets boring with all those white table cloths under fancy food and glasses of vintage wine.<g> No "potluck" this time. There should be some hors d'œuvre (yes, it's a plural as well) and whatever. The liquor licence has not yet been granted for the new location, so don't bring any adult beverages.
Blagden Alley
Website. Scott Billings. Thank you. Mount Vernon Square. Very good site. Also pertains to The Far Side. Kevin Chappie's Blog. He's the guy who beat Leroy Thorpe in the last ANC 2C election. Solid blog. Logan Circle (and NOT this logancircle. Why that web site name is beyond me). The longtime organization to the west of us. Has done very good work over the years with the Fourteenth Street environs. RenewShaw. Good day-to-day on the north and north east of the convention center.

Historian Mark Herlong discussed his walking tour of the Blagden Alley and Naylor Court (it used to be just an "alley", you know) neighborhood at the March meeting. Mark's doing the tour April 26 (Saturday) and April 27 (Sunday, obviously) from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. Meeting at the corner of Ninth and N Streets. For the officail announcement, go here, and search (Ctrl-F) "Blagden" or "Naylor". We think the alleys are fun now. Find out what they were like in the old days.
Mark Bjorge, from the Executive Office of the Mayor, will update the Tenth Street Park progress. And a work in progress it is. I.e., lots of details and lots of wickets. But it seems as if they are getting done.
The editor has heard that they are moving out of the current location at the end of May. But, very happily, they are moving only two blocks away, to the Seventh and L neightborhood. The earlier rumors of the move had the company moving all the way to the Northeast, or even Southeast. We got lucky.
There are several things happening about some of the problem houses in the neighborhood. Hopefully, we'll be able to add details Thursday.
Your chance to speak truth to power. Or something.
